Boston, the city where all NKOTB formers were born and grow up. There every little thing remembers the group: places, people, things... Also the city is beautiful as you can see in this picture: John Hancock Building, Old John Hancock Building and Trinity Church. Like musulmans that have to travel once in a lifetime to Mecca, every NKOTB fan have to travel almost once to Boston. |
In this page you’ll find any place and any person to visit in our pilgrimage to the sacred city. |
First of all we’ll talk about Joe. His house, placed in Brookline, is the one that fans know better ‘cause he bought it a lot time ago when New Kids were together and a lot of magazines talked about it. Also Joe has showed it in a famous TV program. Something important: the house in front of Joe’s had a fence. You can sit in it and wait for hours. |
In the previous photo you can see how Joe´s house looked like since he bought it. But last years he decided to give the house a new look and he painted it with white and yellow, as |
you can see in this new picture. In 2003 after he got married he moved to L.A. and finally he sold his Boston house. |
Near Brookline is Jamaica Plain. There, in Orchard Street you’ll find the house where Joe grow up with his nomerous family and where his father and one of his sisters still live. Don’t miss it ‘cause Mr. Mac is really kind with fans and he will attend you very pleased. |
Mr. Mac has also changed his house colour several times. When Joe was a little boy the house was blue and white, later it was like you can see in the picture before... and now as you can see the house is purple!!!! |
The parallel strett to Orchard Street is Prince Street. There Joe’s mather house is placed. Kate McIntyre moved there after the separation, but both houses are almost together. It’s more difficult to meet Kate, she has less contact with fans than her husband. |
Joe’s childhood went by in Jamaica Plain, so it isn’t difficult to find places related with him there. For example his favourite |
food place when he was a child: Lil’ Peache. Allways it’s beautiful to visit it ; althought in the latess years has been changed its look. |
In Jamaica Plain you’ll find the Footlight Club, the theatre where Joe performed a lot of times when he was a child beside his whole family. His sisters still perform there. For example at Xmas Carol did a special apeareance for Hollydays. Joe performed with her too at Footlight Club. |
In the theatre there’s a conmemorative plaque dedicated to McIntyre family for their big help. It’s for sure that they could play a whole theatre play just with all the members of the family. |
Another important place you can visit in Jamaica Plainis its monument. Maybe at first sight you don’t recognize it, but if you play atention you’ll remember Joe jumping the fence of this monument in one of the most famous New Kids’ videos: Games. You can’t lose it because the bus stops just there. Also you can ask anybody about "the monument"; that’s how they call it. As you can see everything is interesting in this block, don’t miss it. |
Jordan lived during some years in an apartment with his friendTony Haley. The apartment was in one of the buildings of the Prudential Center Complex (small buildings beside the tower). Fans use to wait for Jordan in the places were he ate, in the exits... |
It is dificult to come in any of the buildings, but you can see the parking and the exits. Sometimes they don’t realise and leave the doors opened, so... Anyway it’s almost imposible to visit Boston and don’t see the Prudential Tower . Also in the last floor of the tower there’s an observatory where they have the best view of Boston in the whole city. |
End of 97, begining of 98 Jordan moved to Milton (one of the best blocks near Boston) with his fiancee Evelyn and his dog Shane. In August 99 another guest arrived to the house: his son Dante. |
But this year the whole family have moved away again, also the dog. We still don´t know where, so by now Jordan is missing... |
The most important part of new kids pilgrimage is the "BLOCK" that saw them growing up and became the artistes we all know. |
In Dorchester you’ll find the house where Danny spent his childhood and where he lived ‘till 97 when he moved to Milton. But he didn’t live there for a long time; some months later he got married and moved with all his family |
(his wife Patty and his now four sons: one of Danny, another of Patty, one in common and another one adopted) to Florida. But he travels very often to Boston. |
Even Danny didn’t live there his father lived in that house till the start of 2004. It´s a shame `cause Dan is really nice, he always attended the fans; also you could talk with him about everything. Anyway visit the house `cause is one of the pritiest of the hood. |
Once in Dorchester you have to do a turistic tour for the block that was witness of the childhood of four of the five kids and of the begining of the group. In Melville Av. you’ll find the Knight’s old house. They donated it for charity and now it’s a church and the residence of some poor families. Sometimes they allow fans to see it inside. |
In Dorchester Av. you’ll find two important places of their childhoods: Hi-Fi Pizza where they used to spend the afternoons; and DYC, an association that htey creted for helping the young people with problems in the area. |
And for end in Dorchester you can visit the church where Jordan y Jon sang in the chorus when they were children: All Saints Church. And also Donnie’s old house. It’s placed in one of the worse parts of Dorchester; that is, of course, one of the worse parts of Boston. |
After he bought a house in a block much better: Braintree. But it’s really difficult to arrive there without a car. But now Donnie doesn’t stay there for a long time. He and his family have moved to Los Angeles because |
of his work as actor. Anyway you should visit his home in Braintree; and don’t lose a detail: the W’s in the fence. Also if you are lucky you could find his mother, Alma. She’s also really nice with fans and maybe she knows if Donnie is going to the city while you are there. |
Donnie always thinks about us. A prove of it is that he lives in a street dedicated to us; pilgrim rd. Thank you Donnie for remember us in our New Kids’ pilgrimage. |
Another Donnie´s place that you can find in Boston is this platform. It´s in the middle of a sea walk near to Castle Island. This is one of the Boston places that apears on Donnie´s film Southie. |
In Essex you’ll find Jon’s house. It’s one hour and half walking from the nearest train station: Manchester By The Sea. Once there you just will see the mailboxes unless you just dare to climb by the private driveway. |
The first thing you’ll see on the left is Marlene’s house; up, on the right is Jon’s house (the one in the pic) and last is Sharon’s house. It is a really uncomfortable place to wait. |
There it´s easy to meet Jon and Jordan’s mother, Marlene; their sister Sharon and their oldest nephew Matthew. They all are really nice and use to take the fans in the car to Manchester by the sea. |
After a walk over Boston nearest hoods, we will go to the most important places in the hub related with the kids any time. |
Also in Boston you can find different places that conmemorate the group. One of this places is Hard Rock Cafe placed in Clarendon St. The Institute of Rock couldn’t forget one of the most famous groups of the city. Beside the toiletes, in the ground floor, there was a signed picture of the group dressed with the tipicical Hard Rock Jackets. |
There was also a multiplatinum record for the sales of Hangin’ Tough: more than eight millions copies in The States. They donated it to the restaurant a lot of years ago. |
The place was great to take pictures; and was one of the essential points in the New Kids’ pilgrimage. But you can't find there the picture anymore. As Joe said to us it seems that someone stole it!!!!! |
2007 was a year of changes for Hard Rock Cafe, it has modernized most of its restaurants including the Boston one. The new restaurant is placed at the famous Faneuil Hall, and New kids on the Block has find there also their little place. |
At the "Boston Room" you will find near the window all new kids stuff, a picture of the group signed, Jonathan´s jacket from Hagin´Tough tour and a collection of the guys´s dolls. Also you will find a picture of who was part of the group for a bit; Marky Mark. |
But the most important point in the pilgrimage was without any doubt the Tower Records, a record shop in Boston. There you could find a walk with stars of the most famous groups of the city. 94 was the year that the star was confered to NKOTB for their career. Every member has a reproduction, you almost can have a picture. |
Now we neither can take a picture of the star, because the shop has been removed to a Best Buy and the Tower Records staff have also moved all the stars with them. The question of the million dollars is: where? Nobody knows, neither the kids. |
Later in Newbury St. is Sonsie, the place were the celebrated the presentation of their las album: Face The Music, it was on 24th of January 1994. The same day that the star was confered in the Tower Records. |
In the same street is placed the clothes shop called House of Culture. They say that they don’t have any relation with NKOTB, but right now Donnie’s cousin works there, they have one of Marky’s records in the wall and the clothes designer is Jordan’s publicrelations adviser. |
It also appeared in the video of the new Step By Step version that Danny produced for LFO. |
You also can visit Tape Complex in Haviland St beside Dunkin’ Donuts. It’s the record studio where Jordan works when he’s in Boston. But lately he doesn’t work much there. |
We can´t pass another place well known for all the fans; as Jordan talked about it in any single interview. The Famous piano-bar where he used to play before the release of his first solo album. It was located at the Lenox Hotel in Boylston St., near to the Prudential Center. |
One more place to visit is Boston´s Theatre Distrit behind The Gardens. There you will find the Wilbur Theatre where Joe played Tick, Tick... BOOM!!! When its stoped in Boston. |
Last if you visit Prudential Tower observatory try to find the exhibition The Sounds of Boston. There you’ll find Hangin’ Tough’s cover; but take care when you take the picture, ‘cause the flash reflex a lot. |
Outside Boston you can visit Worcester too, the city where Jonathan and Jordan born. It’s midway between Boston and Albany. You can go by bus with Greyhound-Peter Pan. There is a big comercial center where you can buy clothes, shoes... for a very good price. |
You can make more NK´s pligrimage in the following locations: |
